According to Dr. Preissel's book Brugmansia and Datura: Angel's Trumpets and Thorn Apples some interesting notes about vulcanicola: 1-At its widest point the diameter of the corolla tube is 1 inch, barely the size of a finger. 2-Edge is barely rolled. 3-A pastel pink-flowered form exists. Only 2 plants have been found in La Cocha Lake in Colombia and they have violet colored calyxes. 4-The vulcanicola calyx is shiny and split 1-3 times. The peaks of the calyx often split again into smaller teeth. 5-Calyx often falls off while the fruit is developing 6-Fruits are wrinkled and warty 7-Vulcanicola is difficult to cultivate 8-Vulcanicola is endangered and rare. |
